Service
Cloud and Azure for business
The cloud is not always cheaper, and anyone who tells you otherwise without looking at your invoices is selling you something. What it does do is change the problem: instead of a server to replace every five years that stops when the power goes, you have a monthly cost and availability that does not depend on your comms cupboard. We help you decide whether that suits you, and do it if it does.
The problem
When this comes up
- A server turning five or six years old, and a decision to make between replacing it and moving to cloud
- A site with nowhere sensible to keep a server: no cooling, no decent line, no UPS
- A need for people to work from outside without depending on a VPN back to the office
- A business application the vendor now only supports hosted
- A cloud bill that has got away from you because nobody reviews what is switched on
- Availability requirements a single physical server cannot meet
Scope
What is in, and what is not.
What we do
- The analysis first: what your infrastructure costs today against what it would cost in cloud, with the numbers done
- Migration of servers and applications to Microsoft Azure
- Managed servers and hosting, where a hosted option fits better than public cloud
- Network, access and backup configuration in the new environment
- DNS and domain management, which is where half of all migrations break
- Administration and cost review afterwards: switching off what nobody uses is part of the service
- Mixed environments — part in the office, part in cloud — which is usually the real scenario
What we say before anything moves
- If your case does not gain from cloud, we say so. There are installations where replacing the server is the right decision
- Cloud does not remove the need for backups or for security: it changes where they are, not whether they are needed
- The cost is monthly and variable: it has to be reviewed, or it grows on its own
- We do not develop applications or re-architect software to be cloud-native
How it works
How it is decided and how it is done
The numbers first
Real current cost —written-down hardware, licences, electricity, maintenance, hours— against estimated cloud cost over three years. With that table in front of you the decision takes ten minutes.
A phased plan
Almost nothing moves all at once. We start with what hurts least and leave what most people use until last.
Migration with a way back
Each phase is done so it can be undone if something does not behave as expected. The source is not dismantled until the destination has been running for a while.
Cost review
At one month and each quarter. That is when the resources nobody uses turn up, and where part of the spend comes back.
Service area
Scope: remote by definition
This service is delivered entirely remotely —the environment is in the cloud— so it can be contracted from anywhere in Spain.
There is only an on-site element if the migration involves touching equipment in the office, and there the usual Baix Llobregat and Barcelona area applies.
Questions
Frequently asked questions.
- Is it cheaper than owning a server?
- It depends, which is why the first deliverable is the three-year cost comparison. For steady, predictable workloads an owned server often competes well; for variable workloads, remote access needs, or nowhere sensible to keep hardware, cloud wins.
- Can we stay half and half?
- Yes, and it is the most common outcome. Email and identity in the cloud with the business application in the office is a perfectly reasonable design, not a migration left unfinished.
- What happens if the internet goes down?
- That is the real trade-off with cloud and it has to be planned: a backup line, or keeping locally whatever cannot depend on the connection. It gets decided beforehand, not afterwards.
Before migrating, the numbers
We'll prepare the three-year cost comparison between what you have and what cloud would cost. No commitment.
