Service

Networks and Wi-Fi for business

The network is the thing nobody looks at until it misbehaves, and then everything misbehaves at once: the business application, the phones, the printer and the Wi-Fi in the meeting room. We design and install networks for offices, industrial units and retail premises, with the coverage measured on site rather than assumed from a floor plan.

The problem

What we deal with

  • Wi-Fi that works at reception and drops across half the floor
  • A consumer router from the ISP acting as a business network
  • Cabling added in stretches over the years, undocumented and unlabelled
  • Remote work with no secure access to office resources
  • Two sites operating as if they were two separate companies
  • A flat network where a visitor's laptop can see the accounts server
  • Intermittent drops nobody has ever measured, only suffered

Scope

What is in, and what is not.

What we do

  • A coverage survey on site, with measurements, before proposing any equipment
  • Design and installation of cabled network and switching
  • Professional Wi-Fi with multiple access points and roaming between them
  • Segmentation: guest network, work network and devices kept apart
  • Site-to-site VPN and remote access for home working
  • Firewall and controlled publishing of services
  • Documentation of the installation: diagram, addressing and labelling
  • Monitoring, so a drop is spotted before a user calls

What's not included

  • Building work: trunking, trenching and suspended ceilings are done by the relevant trade, coordinated with us
  • Contracting the line with the ISP, although we do advise on what is needed
  • Voice telephony installations and phone systems
  • CCTV and access control systems

How it works

How it is done properly

  1. Measure on the premises

An industrial unit with metal racking and an office with glass partitions do not behave the same. Coverage gets measured with the kit in hand, on site.

  2. Design for what will be there

Number of devices, where they concentrate and what they do. Sizing exactly for today guarantees an upgrade within a year.

  3. Install and label

With the installation documented. A network with no diagram and no labels costs twice as much to diagnose next time.

  4. Verify under load

Testing an empty network tells you nothing. It is validated with people working, which is when the problems appear.

Service area

Where we work

This is the most on-site service of them all: someone has to be on the premises to measure, install and verify. It is delivered across Baix Llobregat and the Barcelona area — Viladecans, Gavà, Castelldefels, Sant Boi, El Prat, Cornellà, Sant Joan Despí, Esplugues, L'Hospitalet and Barcelona itself.

The configuration afterwards and the monitoring are remote, so day-to-day upkeep does not need visits.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Does all the cabling have to be replaced?
Almost never. The usual outcome is to keep what is sound and replace the stretches that are limiting things, plus the switching. That comes out of the survey, not from an estimate over the phone.
How many Wi-Fi access points do we need?
That is exactly what the on-site measurement answers. Any number given before measuring is a number somebody made up.

New office, or Wi-Fi that doesn't reach?

We'll come and look, measure the coverage and tell you what is actually needed. The assessment visit is not invoiced.
